SPI IR Amendment proposal out on consultation, deadline 10 February 2020

On 13 December, the European Commission launched the public consultation of the long anticipated amendment of Commission Implementing Regulation 1207/2011, also known as SPI IR.

The primary objective of this latest amendment is to provide a legal accommodation of cases of delayed compliance, which SESAR Deployment Manager estimates to affect roughly 22% of the mandated fleet.

The proposal document and the consultation mechanism can be reached through the EU Better Regulation portal. SESAR Deployment Manager invites you to participate in the consultation by submitting a well-founded commentary on any aspect of the proposal as you deem pertinent.

In particular, stakeholders should assess how the proposed amendment, if adopted, would affect the progressing implementations in the air and ground domains and how the proposal aligns with the evolving operating environment in Europe.
